शब्दब्रह्मतनुवर्णनम् — Description of the Form of Śabda-Brahman
ब्रह्मोवाच । एवं तयोर्मुनिश्रेष्ठ दर्शनं कांक्षमाणयोः । विगर्वयोश्च सुरयोः सदा नौ स्थितयोर्मुने
brahmovāca | evaṃ tayormuniśreṣṭha darśanaṃ kāṃkṣamāṇayoḥ | vigarvayośca surayoḥ sadā nau sthitayormune
梵天说道:“如此,噢最胜牟尼,当那两位天神——因傲慢而自满——渴求得见(至上者的)圣观之时,而我们也一直在彼处恒常驻立,噢圣者,”
Brahma
Tattva Level: pashu
Cosmic Event: threshold moment before theophany: longing for darśana while concealment still operates; narrative pivot into revelation.
It frames a key Shaiva lesson: even exalted devas can be veiled by pride, and true clarity arises only through longing for the Supreme Lord’s darśana—Shiva as Pati, the revealer of grace.
The verse introduces the mood of seeking “darśana,” which in Shaiva practice is fulfilled through Saguna upāsanā—approaching Shiva through the Liṅga as the accessible form by which the Supreme grants vision and removes ego.
Cultivate humility and longing through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and Liṅga-dhyāna; the implied practice is to replace deva-pride with devotion and surrender to Shiva’s grace.
