Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: Proliferative expansion motif: ‘sixty and sixty’ and ‘nine’ as structured multiplicities within the cosmic host—order within immensity.
The verse catalogs specific names and groupings that signal Rudra’s ordered, manifold manifestation in creation—teaching that the one Pati (Shiva) appears through many functional forms while remaining the supreme Lord beyond limitation.
Such enumerations support Saguna-upāsanā: devotees may approach Shiva through particular names and attributes (strength, tawny radiance, lordship), while recognizing the Linga as the unifying symbol of the one Shiva underlying all these manifestations.
A practical takeaway is nāma-smaraṇa (recollection of Shiva’s names) as japa—optionally integrated with the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and supported by Shaiva markers like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa for steadiness in devotion.
