Role: teaching
It teaches that Shiva’s presence is established through mantra (invocation) and then safeguarded through mantra (restraint), so the mind and ritual space become steady, pure, and fit for communion with Pati (Shiva).
In Linga worship, the devotee first invokes sānidhya—Shiva’s gracious nearness—into the worship-field (and the Linga as the chosen support), then ‘seals’ the rite so external disturbances and inner distractions do not interrupt Saguna-upasana.
Sit on a proper āsana, apply Vāmadeva for steadiness and sanctification, invoke with Rudra-Gāyatrī, and protectively contain the invoked presence with Aghora—functionally a form of mantra-nyāsa and kavaca-like restraint.
