It declares Śiva as Pati—the supreme Lord—under whose sovereignty the cosmic forces (wind, fire, sun, and death) operate, showing that all worldly powers are bound by His command and that refuge in Him transcends fear.
The Liṅga represents Śiva’s all-pervading lordship: even the regulators of nature act by His authority. Worship of Saguna Śiva through the Liṅga trains the mind to see one governing Consciousness behind all cosmic functions.
Contemplate Śiva as the inner ruler (antaryāmin) while repeating the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and offer water/bilva to the Śiva-liṅga with the resolve to surrender fear and karmic bondage to Him.
