Post–Dakṣa-Yajña Developments and the Appeal to Viṣṇu
देव देव रमानाथ विष्णो देवसुखावह । वयं त्वच्छरणं प्राप्तास्सदेवमुनयो ध्रुवम्
deva deva ramānātha viṣṇo devasukhāvaha | vayaṃ tvaccharaṇaṃ prāptāssadevamunayo dhruvam

It highlights śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) as a primary spiritual response in times of cosmic disorder—humility and reliance on divine grace. From a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, it reflects the soul’s (paśu’s) need to seek higher protection when bound by limitations (pāśa).
Though addressed to Viṣṇu, the verse models devotional surrender that also underlies Saguna Shiva worship—approaching the Lord with reverence and dependence. In the Shiva Purana’s narrative world, such refuge-seeking often precedes Shiva’s intervention and the restoration of dharma.
The takeaway is devotional surrender: prayerful recitation and mental offering of oneself at the Lord’s feet. In Shaiva practice, the same attitude is cultivated through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and contemplative remembrance of Shiva as the ultimate refuge.
