दधीचाश्रमगमनम् — Viṣṇu’s Disguise and Dadhīca’s Fearlessness
Kṣu’s Request
दधीच उवाच । मायां त्यज महाबाहो प्रतिभासो विचारतः । विज्ञातानि सहस्राणि दुर्विज्ञेयानि माधव
dadhīca uvāca | māyāṃ tyaja mahābāho pratibhāso vicārataḥ | vijñātāni sahasrāṇi durvijñeyāni mādhava
达提奇说道:“噢,大臂勇者,当舍离摩耶。细加观照,则此世间不过是显现之相。噢,摩达婆,纵使可‘知’者千千万万,至微至妙的真理仍难以了悟。”
Sage Dadhīci
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches viveka (discriminative inquiry): what seems solid is often mere pratibhāsa (appearance) under Māyā, so liberation requires turning from delusion toward the hard-won realization of the Highest—ultimately fulfilled in devotion and grace of Pati (Śiva).
By rejecting Māyā and examining appearances, the seeker is directed from outward entanglement to stable contemplation; Saguna worship—such as Linga-upāsanā—becomes a purifying support that steadies the mind and leads toward recognition of Śiva as the true Reality beyond shifting appearances.
Daily self-inquiry with japa and dhyāna—especially Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya")—supported by Shaiva disciplines like vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and Rudrākṣa, to weaken Māyā’s grip and deepen inner clarity.
