मेनायाः क्रोध-विलापः — Menā’s Lament and Reproach
to the Sage
उत्तिष्ठातः प्रयत्नेन जीवितं सफलं कुरु । देहि मां त्वं शिवायास्मै स्वाश्रमं कुरु सार्थकम्
uttiṣṭhātaḥ prayatnena jīvitaṃ saphalaṃ kuru | dehi māṃ tvaṃ śivāyāsmai svāśramaṃ kuru sārthakam
当奋然起身,竭力而行,使此生真正结果。将我许与那位主宰湿婆(Śiva),由此令你的阿湿罗摩(居家之法)圆满而有意义。
Pārvatī
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Models the ideal of making life ‘saphala’ by orienting household-dharma toward Śiva; pilgrimage and vrata become extensions of a Śiva-centered gṛhastha āśrama.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
It teaches that life becomes truly successful when directed toward Śiva as the supreme Pati (Lord), and that sincere effort joined with devotion turns worldly duties into a path of liberation.
By asking to be offered to Śiva, the verse emphasizes personal surrender to Saguna Śiva (the approachable Lord of grace), which in practice is expressed through devoted worship—often centered on the Śiva-liṅga as the sanctified form of His presence.
The takeaway is purposeful, effortful Śiva-bhakti—daily worship with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), along with simple, consistent observances that sanctify one’s āśrama and duties.
