Sukta 10.26
Not determined from provided excerpt (Anukramaṇī needed for RV 10.26)
Pūṣan (with ‘dasrā’ as attendant powers/possibly Aśvins)
Gāyatrī (3×8 syllables typical for such compact verse; approximate)
Mantra 1
Mantra 2
Mantra 3
Mantra 4
Mantra 5
Mantra 6
Mantra 7
Mantra 8
Mantra 9
Pūṣan is the Vedic guardian of paths and safe passage. In RV 10.26 he is asked to lead the journey, protect the worshipper’s ‘chariot’ of life-energy, and bring increase and well-being.
It suggests that true inspiration (manīṣā) should be disciplined and rightly directed, like horses yoked to a chariot. The prayer asks that our thoughts and powers move forward in an effective, protected way.
It can be recited before travel or before beginning an important task, asking for a clear path, removal of obstacles, and steady energy. Traditionally it fits well with a simple ghee offering into a lamp or fire and a focused intention.
