पश्चिमदिशि अन्वेषणादेशः
Instructions for the Western Search Party
तेषां मध्ये स्थितो राजा मेरुरुत्तरपर्वतः।आदित्येन प्रसन्नेन शैलो दत्तवरः पुरा।।4.42.38।।
teṣāṃ madhye sthito rājā मेरुर uttaraparvataḥ |
ādityena prasannena śailo dattavaraḥ purā || 4.42.38 ||
在那些群峰之中,北方的山王须弥山(Meru)巍然屹立;往昔蒙慈和的太阳神阿底提耶(Āditya)赐予恩惠。
'On crossing the hill ruled by Indra you will reach the rows of sixty thousand mountains of gold shining like the brilliance of the rising Sun. The mountains glow with golden trees filled with bloom.
Dharma is alignment with cosmic order: Meru and the Sun’s boon symbolize a world structured by lawful hierarchy, mirroring the need for orderly conduct in the search for truth (Satya) and righteousness.
Sugrīva identifies Meru as a central landmark among the golden mountains and adds a traditional account of its divine boon.
Reverence and orientation to sacred tradition: using remembered sacred geography to guide purposeful action.
