Description of Ayodhya under Daśaratha
तां पुरीं स महातेजा राजा दशरथो महान् ।शशास शमितामित्रो नक्षत्राणीव चन्द्रमा: ।।1.6.27।।
tāṃ purīṃ sa mahātejā rājā daśaratho mahān |
śaśāsa śamitāmitro nakṣatrāṇīva candramāḥ || 1.6.27 ||
那位大威光的达沙拉陀王,既已平定诸敌,治理那座城,如明月统摄群星。
Mighty king Dasaratha, of great brilliance vanquished his foes and ruled the city like the Moon over the stars.
Dharma is expressed as orderly leadership: the king’s role is to provide guidance and stability, like the moon that steadies the night-sky—authority that harmonizes rather than disrupts.
The poet concludes the city-description by portraying Daśaratha’s sovereign control and the peace achieved through subduing hostile forces.
Majestic, stabilizing leadership: brilliance (tejas) joined with the capacity to pacify enemies and maintain civic order.
