Visvamitra and Vasistha: Contest of Divine Weapons

tad astram udyataṃ dṛṣṭvā devāḥ sāgnipurogamāḥ | devarṣayaś ca sambhrāntā gandharvāḥ saha mahoragāḥ || 1.56.14 ||
见那兵器被举起,诸天——以火神阿耆尼为首——连同天仙圣者、乾闼婆与大蛇众,皆惊惶不安。
All the devatas, with Agni in the forefront, divine rishis, great uragas and gandharvas were agitated seeing the Brahmastra raised. When Brahmastra was discharged, the three worlds became distressed.
Dharma includes safeguarding cosmic order; when ultimate weapons are invoked, even divine beings tremble—implying such power must be used only with strict moral necessity.
As the Brahmāstra is raised, the wider cosmos reacts: gods, sages, celestial musicians, and nāgas become alarmed.
The verse emphasizes reverence for limits: recognition (by all beings) that certain powers are catastrophic if misused.
