Bālakāṇḍa 18
कं च ते परमं कामं करोमि किमु हर्षित: ।।।।पात्रभूतोऽसि मे ब्रह्मन्दिष्टया प्राप्ताऽसि कौशिक ।अद्य मे सफलं जन्म जीवितं च सुजीवितम्।।।।
kaṃ ca te paramaṃ kāmaṃ karomi kimu harṣitaḥ |
你至高的心愿是什么,我当如何成就,才能使你真正欢悦?
"O Brahman! what is your desire and in what manner shall I fulfill it to your satisfaction? You are a role model for righteousness. How fortunate I am you have come! My birth is rendered fruitful. My life has accomplished its objective.
Dharma here is expressed as readiness to serve the righteous: a king seeks to fulfill a sage’s legitimate purpose with sincerity.
In welcoming Viśvāmitra, Daśaratha asks what the sage wants and offers to carry it out to the sage’s satisfaction.
Responsiveness and humility—Daśaratha places himself in service to dharma-guided request.
