अयोध्याकाण्डे षट्त्रिंशः सर्गः
Daśaratha’s orders for Rama’s escort; Kaikeyi’s fear; the Asamañjasa precedent
तं यानं शीघ्रमारोप्य सभार्यं सपरिच्छदम्।यावज्जीवं विवास्योऽयमिति स्वानन्वशात्पिता।।।।
taṃ yānaṃ śīghram āropya sabhāryaṃ saparicchadam | yāvajjīvaṃ vivāsyo 'yam iti svān anvaśāt pitā ||2.36.24||
父王迅速将他与妻子及其所有随身之物一同扶上车乘,并吩咐自己的侍从:“此人当终身放逐。”
Then the father made him and his wife climb a carriage with the clothes they had at the time on them and at once ordered his servants to banish him for life.
Dharma in governance includes decisive enforcement: when harm is severe and persistent, punishment (including exile) is executed swiftly to restore safety and moral order.
The king formalizes exile: Asamañja is placed in a carriage with his wife and possessions and expelled permanently by royal command.
Firmness in justice—acting promptly and clearly once wrongdoing is established.
