Sarga 111: Counsel on Gurus, Parental Debt, and Bharata’s Protest
आसीनस्त्वेव भरतः पौरजानपदं जनम्।उवाच सर्वतः प्रेक्ष्य किमार्यं नानुशासथ।।।।
āsīnas tv eva bharataḥ paurajānapadaṃ janam | uvāca sarvataḥ prekṣya kim āryaṃ nānuśāsatha ||
婆罗多仍端坐不起,环顾城民与乡人,说道:“你们为何不劝谏我那高贵的长兄(罗摩)?”
While remaining seated, Bharata looking all around at the inhabitants from towns andvillages, questioned them 'why don't you all persuade my esteemed brother to return'.
Dharma includes collective responsibility: Bharata calls on the community to participate in righteous counsel for the stability of the kingdom.
Bharata, maintaining his protest posture, appeals to the assembled citizens to persuade Rama to return.
