Rama’s Counsel on Vows, the Gaya Śruti, and Bharata’s Return to Rule
भवानपि तथेत्येव पितरं सत्यवादिनम्।कर्तुमर्हति राजेन्द्र क्षिप्रमेवाभिषेचनात्।।2.107.9।।
bhavān api tathety eva pitaraṃ satyavādinam |
kartum arhati rājendra kṣipram evābhiṣecanāt || 2.107.9 ||
王中因陀罗啊,你也应当——速行加冕之礼——使我们那守真言的父王得以昭明:他确已履行所许之诺。
O Indra among kings, let your coronation be performed without delay since you areworthy and at the same time the truthfulness of our father's words be honoured.
Dharma here is sustaining satya through rightful action: Bharata is urged to accept kingship not for ambition, but to complete the moral logic of the vow and protect the credibility of royal truth.
Rāma advises Bharata to proceed with coronation promptly so that Daśaratha’s promise—though painful in outcome—stands fulfilled and publicly honored.
Bharata’s potential virtue of selfless rule (niṣkāma-rājadharma): accepting duty for the sake of dharma, not personal desire.
