Approach to Sarabhanga’s Hermitage and the Vision of Indra
त्वयाऽहं पुरुषव्याघ्र धार्मिकेण महात्मना।समागम्य गमिष्यामि त्रिदिवं देवसेवितम्।।3.5.30।।
tvayā 'haṃ puruṣavyāghra dhārmikeṇa mahātmanā |
samāgamya gamiṣyāmi tridivaṃ devasevitam ||3.5.30||
人中之虎啊,唯有与你相会——你这位正法之士、伟大之魂——我才将启程前往天界,那为诸神所往来侍奉之境。
O Rama, the best of men ! (only) after seeing a great, virtuous soul like you shall I go to heaven, the abode of the gods.
Dharma as the highest honor: meeting a truly righteous person is treated as more weighty than immediate celestial reward.
Śarabhaṅga explains that he delayed his departure to heaven in order to meet Rāma first.
Rāma’s dharmic greatness (dhārmikatā) as recognized by a sage, and Śarabhaṅga’s value for righteous association.
