The Greatness of Gayā
Gayā-Māhātmya
शरणं हरिरूचे तान्भवितव्यं शिवात्मभिः । पातितस्य महान्देहे तथेत्यूचुः सुरा हरिम् ॥ ९ ॥
śaraṇaṃ harirūce tānbhavitavyaṃ śivātmabhiḥ | pātitasya mahāndehe tathetyūcuḥ surā harim || 9 ||
哈利对他们说:“此事当由具足湿婆本性者来成就。”当那巨大的身躯被击倒之后,诸天答复哈利:“如是。”
Suta (narrating; verse reports Hari’s speech and the Devas’ reply)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
The verse highlights divine order and harmony: Hari directs that the required act be performed by Śiva-natured beings, and the Devas assent—showing coordinated cosmic governance rather than sectarian conflict.
By presenting Hari as “refuge” (śaraṇam) and as the one whose instruction is accepted by the Devas, it reinforces trusting the Lord’s direction—an attitude central to bhakti as surrender and obedience.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this line; the takeaway is dharma-oriented—proper delegation of sacred action to the appropriate divine agency (Śiva-aligned beings) within a ritual-cosmic framework.
