The Vision of the Lord Granted to Rukmangada
Prepared to Slay His Son
प्रणम्य मातापितरौ देवं चक्रधरं तथा । वदनं प्रेक्ष्य चादीनं जनन्या नृपपुंगवः ॥ ७ ॥
praṇamya mātāpitarau devaṃ cakradharaṃ tathā | vadanaṃ prekṣya cādīnaṃ jananyā nṛpapuṃgavaḥ || 7 ||
他先礼拜父母,又礼拜执轮之神;随后,这位最胜之王凝望母亲那受苦无助、无所依怙的面容。
Narada (narrative voice within the Purana context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna (compassion)
Secondary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
It links dharma in the household (reverence to parents) with bhakti to Viṣṇu (Cakradhara), showing that true righteousness integrates devotion with compassionate attention to suffering family members.
Bhakti is expressed through direct reverence to Viṣṇu and also through dharmic conduct—humility, salutations, and tenderness toward the afflicted—presenting devotion as lived ethics, not only ritual.
The verse primarily emphasizes sadācāra (right conduct) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; practically, it reflects the dharmic norm of mātṛ-pitṛ-sevā (service to parents) as a foundational discipline supporting ritual purity and worship.
