The Greatness of the Month of Māgha
Māgha-snāna, Harivāsara, and the Kāṣṭhīlā-Upākhyāna
तस्यार्थे वा त्यजेद्वित्तं जीवितं वा सुलोचने । कल्पकोटिशतं साग्रं विष्णुलोके महीयते ॥ ५७ ॥
tasyārthe vā tyajedvittaṃ jīvitaṃ vā sulocane | kalpakoṭiśataṃ sāgraṃ viṣṇuloke mahīyate || 57 ||
为了他,哪怕舍弃财富甚至生命也在所不惜,美丽的女子啊。这样的人将在毗湿奴的世界里受到亿万劫的尊崇。
Narada (teaching within a Vaishnava mahatmya discourse; dialogic framing traditionally with Sanatkumara lineages)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: vira
It elevates single-pointed devotion and self-sacrifice—placing dharma and the Lord’s cause above wealth and even life—and declares long-lasting honor in Viṣṇuloka as its fruit.
Bhakti is shown as wholehearted commitment: the devotee values the Lord’s purpose over personal security, and that intensity of surrender is said to culminate in recognition in Viṣṇu’s realm.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa-sūtra ritual detail) is taught here; the verse functions as a phala-śruti emphasizing dharmic resolve and the promised spiritual result.
