The Description of Kāśī (Kāśī-māhātmya): Avimukta, Kapālamocana, and Śiva’s Purification
क्षेत्रं तु केशवस्येदं पुराणं कवयो विदुः । कृपया संपरीतस्य माधवस्य द्विजोत्तम ॥ ५८ ॥
kṣetraṃ tu keśavasyedaṃ purāṇaṃ kavayo viduḥ | kṛpayā saṃparītasya mādhavasya dvijottama || 58 ||
此圣地实为凯沙瓦(Keśava)之所;古代圣贤依《往世书》之宣说而知之。噢,最胜的两次生者,此处蒙摩达瓦(Mādhava)慈恩护持与环绕。
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It asserts Purāṇic authority that the kṣetra belongs to Viṣṇu (Keśava) and teaches that the sanctity and protection of the place arise from Mādhava’s grace, making pilgrimage and worship there spiritually potent.
By identifying the kṣetra as Keśava’s own and emphasizing divine grace (kṛpā), the verse frames bhakti as reliance on Viṣṇu’s compassionate presence—devotion is strengthened through reverence for His abode and remembrance of His names (Keśava/Mādhava).
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; its practical takeaway is Purāṇic pramāṇa (scriptural testimony) used to validate tīrtha-dharma—how tradition authorizes the status of a kṣetra for pilgrimage and worship.
