Kārtika-Māhātmya
The Greatness of Kārtika
श्रुत्वा कार्त्तिकमाहात्म्यं करिष्येऽहं यथेप्सितम् ॥ ४३ ॥
śrutvā kārttikamāhātmyaṃ kariṣye'haṃ yathepsitam || 43 ||
听闻迦尔提迦月的伟大功德之后,我将依所愿并依所制而如法奉行诸般行持。
Narada
Vrata: Kārttika (month observance)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It shows the proper response to hearing a māhātmya: śravaṇa (listening) should mature into anuṣṭhāna (actual performance) of Kārttika vows, turning knowledge into merit and devotion.
By committing to act after hearing the glory of Kārttika, the speaker models bhakti as obedient practice—undertaking vrata, worship, and discipline in alignment with the month’s Vaiṣṇava sanctity.
It implicitly emphasizes Kalpa/ritual procedure—performing observances “as prescribed”—i.e., following correct vrata-vidhi rather than mere sentiment.
