saṃmukhaṃ vrajamānasya putrasya pitaraṃ prati | pade pade yajñaphalaṃ procuḥ paurāṇikā dvijāḥ || 14 ||
当儿子前行迎见父亲时,通晓《往世书》的婆罗门宣说:他每迈出一步,皆得与一次祭祀(yajña)等同的功德。
Narada (narrating traditional praise as transmitted by paurāṇika brāhmaṇas)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It elevates filial devotion (pitṛ-sevā) to the level of yajña, teaching that sincere, embodied acts of respect can generate great puṇya without elaborate ritual.
By portraying loving movement toward one’s father as continuously meritorious, it frames devotion as lived reverence—where each step taken with a pure intention becomes an offering.
Ritual theory (Kalpa) is implied: the verse uses yajña-phala as the benchmark for merit, showing how dharmic conduct can be evaluated in the same merit-framework used for sacrifices.
