The Description of the Glory of Dvādaśī
एष प्रभावो हि मया द्वादश्याः परिकीर्तितः । पापेंधनस्य घोरस्य पावकाख्यो महीपते ॥ २४ ॥
eṣa prabhāvo hi mayā dvādaśyāḥ parikīrtitaḥ | pāpeṃdhanasya ghorasya pāvakākhyo mahīpate || 24 ||
大王啊,我已如是宣说十二日(Dvādaśī)之威力:它名为“火”,能焚尽罪业那可怖的薪柴。
Narada
Vrata: Dvādaśī
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents Dvādaśī as a purifying spiritual force—like fire—that consumes accumulated sin, emphasizing the transformative power of vrata-dharma.
By praising Dvādaśī’s efficacy, the text supports disciplined devotional observance (vrata) as a practical expression of bhakti that removes obstacles (pāpa) to remembrance and worship.
It implicitly relies on Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa (lunar tithi reckoning) to identify Dvādaśī correctly for vrata performance, linking ritual timing with spiritual results.
