The Greatness of the Gaṅgā (Gaṅgā-māhātmya): Saudāsa/Kalmāṣapāda’s Curse and Release
मन्त्रोदितानि कर्मणि करोतीतिमुदं ययौ । यस्त्वर्चितो मया देवः शिवः सर्वजगद्गुरुः ॥ ७ ॥
mantroditāni karmaṇi karotītimudaṃ yayau | yastvarcito mayā devaḥ śivaḥ sarvajagadguruḥ || 7 ||
他心生欢喜,念道:“他正依照真言所宣示而行诸仪轨。”我所礼拜的神祇乃是湿婆主(Śiva),为一切世界之导师。
Narada (narrating within the dialogue tradition to the Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It highlights that ritual acts gain authenticity and spiritual force when performed exactly as the mantras prescribe, and it frames such correctness as an expression of reverence toward Śiva, revered here as the universal teacher.
Bhakti is shown through arcana (worship) grounded in śāstric discipline—devotion is not merely emotion but faithful adherence to mantra-guided practice offered to the Lord.
The verse points to precise mantra-based execution of karma, implying the need for Śikṣā (correct recitation/phonetics) and Vyākaraṇa (proper word-forms) so that rites align with what the mantras actually enjoin.
