गङ्गामाहात्म्य — The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
गूढविग्रहशक्रेण हृतमश्वं तु सागराः । अन्वेष्टुं बभ्रमुर्लोकान् भूरादींश्च सुविस्मिताः ॥ ९१ ॥
gūḍhavigrahaśakreṇa hṛtamaśvaṃ tu sāgarāḥ | anveṣṭuṃ babhramurlokān bhūrādīṃśca suvismitāḥ || 91 ||
当因陀罗(释迦)隐匿形相盗走祭马时,娑伽罗之子们惊异万分,遂自地界 Bhū 起,遍历诸世界寻觅其踪。
Suta (narrating the Purana account)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: vira
It highlights how attachment to ritual outcomes can propel intense action, while the Purana simultaneously points to the larger cosmic order—events unfold across multiple lokas under divine governance.
Indirectly, it contrasts outer pursuit (searching across worlds for a ritual object) with the Purana’s broader emphasis that true refuge lies in devotion to the Supreme rather than in anxiety over ritual loss or prestige.
The verse alludes to Śrauta ritual context (Ashvamedha) and Purāṇic cosmology (Bhū and other lokas), useful for understanding how ritual narratives are framed within traditional world-systems.
