गङ्गामाहात्म्य — The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
और्व उवाच । एका वंशधरं चैकमन्या षडयुतानि च । अपत्यार्थं महाभागे वृणुतां च यथेप्सितम् ॥ ६७ ॥
aurva uvāca | ekā vaṃśadharaṃ caikamanyā ṣaḍayutāni ca | apatyārthaṃ mahābhāge vṛṇutāṃ ca yathepsitam || 67 ||
奥尔瓦仙人说道:“有福的夫人啊,一头(母牛)将赐你一位继嗣以续家族血脉;另一头将赐你六千子嗣。为求后代,随你所愿而择。”
Sage Aurva
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It highlights dharmic choice: the seeker is offered alternatives (one worthy heir or many sons), implying responsibility and discernment in desires related to family and lineage.
Indirectly, it frames worldly blessings as choices granted by a sage; in the Purāṇic worldview, such boons are ultimately to be aligned with dharma and gratitude toward the divine order that bhakti reveres.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; it is primarily an itihāsa-purāṇic narrative emphasizing intention (saṅkalpa) and responsible selection of a boon.
