Gaṅgā-māhātmya: Bāhu’s Envy, Defeat, Forest Exile, and Aurva’s Dharmic Consolation
अन्यदुःखेन यो दुःखी योऽन्य हर्षेण हर्षितः । स एव जगतामीशो नररूपधरो हरिः ॥ ६९ ॥
anyaduḥkhena yo duḥkhī yo'nya harṣeṇa harṣitaḥ | sa eva jagatāmīśo nararūpadharo hariḥ || 69 ||
凡因他人之苦而悲、因他人之乐而喜者——唯此人即是诃利(Hari),诸世界之主,示现为人身。
Narada (teaching on the marks of the Lord manifest in human form)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It defines a core divine mark: true godliness is revealed as empathy—sharing others’ pain and joy—showing Hari’s lordship through compassion rather than mere power.
Bhakti is expressed as a transformed heart: the devotee mirrors Hari’s compassion, becoming sensitive to others’ suffering and happiness as part of loving service to the Lord.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyakarana, Shiksha, or Jyotisha) is taught here; the practical takeaway is dharmic conduct—cultivating compassion as a daily discipline aligned with Vaishnava ethics.
