It frames the lunar eclipse as a potent ritual window where Soma-mantras and homa offerings are prescribed, turning an ominous celestial event into a dharmic act of sanctification and restraint.
Though primarily ritualistic, it supports bhakti indirectly by emphasizing disciplined Vedic worship (mantra and offering) during sacred times, cultivating reverence and steadiness of mind—qualities that mature into devotion.
Jyotiṣa (Vedāṅga astrology/astronomy) is implied through timing the rite at the “tenth” portion during a lunar eclipse, and Kalpa (ritual procedure) is reflected in the specification of mantras and homa performance.
