यज्ञो दानं तपो होमः स्वाध्यायः पितृतर्पणम् । वृथा भवति तत्सर्वमूर्द्धपुंड्रं विना कृतम् ॥ ४३ ॥
yajño dānaṃ tapo homaḥ svādhyāyaḥ pitṛtarpaṇam | vṛthā bhavati tatsarvamūrddhapuṃḍraṃ vinā kṛtam || 43 ||
祭祀、布施、苦行、火供、诵习吠陀、以及对祖灵的供水(pitr̥-tarpaṇa)——若不佩持乌尔德瓦·本陀罗(ūrdhva-puṇḍra,毗湿奴信徒额上的竖纹圣记)而行,一切皆成徒然无果。
