Ekādaśī Vrata-Vidhi and the Galava–Bhadrashīla Itihāsa
Dharmakīrti before Yama
नास्ति क्षमासमा माता नास्ति कीर्तिसमं धनम् । नास्ति ज्ञानसमो लाभो न च धर्म समः पिता ॥ ३१ ॥
nāsti kṣamāsamā mātā nāsti kīrtisamaṃ dhanam | nāsti jñānasamo lābho na ca dharma samaḥ pitā || 31 ||
无有母亲可比宽恕,无有财富可比美名;无有所得可比智慧,无有父亲可比正法(dharma)。
Narada (teaching in a didactic/nīti context within Purva-bhāga discourse)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It ranks inner virtues above external possessions: forgiveness nurtures like a mother, dharma protects like a father, knowledge yields the highest profit, and lasting wealth is honorable reputation grounded in righteous living.
Bhakti matures through character: forgiveness removes anger and offense, dharma disciplines the devotee’s life, and knowledge clarifies the Lord’s nature—together producing kīrti that supports devotion rather than ego.
Direct Vedāṅga technique is not taught in this verse; however, it supports the Vedāṅga-driven ideal of sadācāra—using discernment (jñāna) and dharma as guiding principles for right practice of mantra, ritual, and learning.
