Nārada’s Hymn to Viṣṇu
Nāradasya Viṣṇu-stavaḥ
कस्मिन् स्थाने स्थितौ सूत तावुभौ ब्रह्मवादिनौ । हरिगीतसमुद्गाने चक्रतुस्तद्वदस्व नः ॥ २ ॥
kasmin sthāne sthitau sūta tāvubhau brahmavādinau | harigītasamudgāne cakratustadvadasva naḥ || 2 ||
噢,苏多啊,那两位宣说梵(Brahman)者坐于何处?又在何地开始以清妙歌声吟唱赞颂哈利(Hari)的圣歌?请为我们述说。
Suta (addressed by the inquirers; question spoken by the sages present at the narration)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It emphasizes that bhakti begins in a sanctified context—satsanga and a proper sacred setting—by asking where the Brahmavādin sages were seated when Hari’s praises were sung, highlighting the importance of place, company, and reverent inquiry.
Bhakti is shown as śravaṇa–kīrtana oriented: the listeners inquire about the origin and circumstances of Hari-gīta (devotional singing), indicating that devotion grows through attentive questioning and participation in Hari’s praise within a gathered assembly.
Indirectly, it reflects the Vedāṅga concern for proper performance context—especially aspects akin to Śikṣā (correct recitation/chanting) and Kalpa (appropriate ritual setting)—since the verse asks about the precise place and manner of commencing devotional chant.
