Dvādaśī-vrata: Month-by-month Viṣṇu Worship and the Year-End Udyāpana
रात्रौ जागरणं कुर्यात्पूर्ववद्भक्तिसंयुतः । कल्यकर्म च निर्वर्त्य माधवं पुनरर्चयेत् ॥ ३३ ॥
rātrau jāgaraṇaṃ kuryātpūrvavadbhaktisaṃyutaḥ | kalyakarma ca nirvartya mādhavaṃ punararcayet || 33 ||
夜间应如先前般怀持奉爱(bhakti)而守夜;并在如法完成吉祥仪轨之后,再次礼拜摩达婆(Mādhava,毗湿奴)。
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that sustained wakeful remembrance (jāgaraṇa) joined with devotion, followed by proper completion of auspicious rites and renewed worship of Viṣṇu, deepens vrata merit and steadies the mind in bhakti.
Bhakti is shown as continuous practice: staying awake in devotional attentiveness, performing the prescribed sacred actions carefully, and returning again to worship Mādhava—making devotion both inward (vigil) and outward (arcana).
Ritual procedure is implied: the orderly completion of kalya-karma (auspicious rites) and repeated arcana indicates attention to kalpa-style discipline (proper performance of rites) rather than a purely theoretical teaching.
