स एव कृतकृत्यस्तु सर्वशास्त्रार्थकोविदः । यदर्जितं तपः पुण्यं तन्मन्ये सफलं द्विजाः ॥ ५५ ॥
sa eva kṛtakṛtyastu sarvaśāstrārthakovidaḥ | yadarjitaṃ tapaḥ puṇyaṃ tanmanye saphalaṃ dvijāḥ || 55 ||
唯有此人方为真正圆满,且通达一切经典(śāstra)之义。其所积修的苦行(tapas)与福德(puṇya)——噢诸位二生者,我认为皆得真实之果。
Narada (contextual attribution within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue framework)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
The verse defines real spiritual success as becoming a kṛtakṛtya—one whose life-purpose is completed—shown by genuine insight into the meaning of all śāstras, making one’s accumulated tapas and puṇya truly effective.
While bhakti is not named here, the verse aligns with the Purāṇic principle that practices (tapas/puṇya) become ‘saphala’ only when they mature into right understanding and inner completion—typically fulfilled in devotion grounded in śāstra-artha.
The emphasis is on śāstra-artha-kovida—competence in grasping scriptural meaning (a prerequisite for applied disciplines like Vyākaraṇa and Mīmāṃsā-based interpretation), rather than mere ritual performance without understanding.
