Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis
krameṇa cāsya te putrā vyavardhanta mahaujasaḥ | vedeṣu sa-rahasyeṣu dhanurvedeṣu pāragāḥ ||
The verse presents an ideal of holistic formation: disciplined growth over time, grounded in Vedic learning (including its deeper ‘rahasya’ aspects) and complemented by mastery of Dhanurveda. It implies that ethical and spiritual education should accompany worldly competence, especially for those destined for responsibility.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes how a king’s sons mature step by step and become accomplished scholars and warriors—proficient in the Vedas (with their esoteric teachings) and in the martial science of archery—signaling their readiness for adult duties and royal life.
