एवमिन्द्रस्यथ भवने पञ्च वर्षाणि भारत उषितानि मया राजन् स्मरता द्यूतजं कलिम्,भारत! इस प्रकार द्यूतजनित कलहका स्मरण करते हुए मैंने इन्द्रभवनमें पाँच वर्ष व्यतीत किये हैं
evam indrasya atha bhavane pañca varṣāṇi bhārata uṣitāni mayā rājan smaratā dyūtajaṁ kalim
于是,噢婆罗多啊,当我居于因陀罗的天宫之时,我在那里度过了五年,噢大王——心中不断追忆那由掷骰赌博所引起的纷争。那场“骰子所生”的不和之记忆,宛如道义上的创伤长存,提醒我:一次失足,足以放出绵延不绝的苦难与责任。
अजुन उवाच
Even when one attains honor or refuge in exalted places, the ethical consequences of past wrongdoing—here, the dice-born conflict—continue to demand reflection. The verse underscores accountability: inner remembrance of error becomes a spur toward rectification and steadfast dharma.
Arjuna states that he lived for five years in Indra’s abode, and during that time he kept recalling the discord caused by the gambling episode. The line situates his celestial sojourn within the larger arc of the Pandavas’ suffering and the unresolved moral and political fallout of the dice game.
