एवमेव कुले जाता: पावकोपमतेजस: । क्षमावन्तो निराकारा: काष्ठेडग्निरिव शेरते
evam eva kule jātāḥ pāvakopama-tejasaḥ | kṣamāvanto nirākārāḥ kāṣṭhe 'gnir iva śerate ||
亦复如是,生于高贵宗族的般度五子,光辉如火,却能忍耐而外示谦抑;不事张扬,不起躁动,犹如木中潜火,隐其威力与影响,待时而发。
विदुर उवाच
True strength can be restrained and concealed: the virtuous may endure injustice with patience, remaining outwardly calm, yet retaining inner power that will manifest when dharma requires.
Vidura is characterizing the Pāṇḍavas during the tense pre-war negotiations: though they appear quiet and unprovocative, their inherent brilliance and capability are present like fire latent in wood.
