Ambā’s Vow of Tapas after Paraśurāma’s Assessment (अम्बाया तपोव्रतनिश्चयः)
लेभे गर्भ यथाकालं विधिदृष्टेन कर्मणा । पार्षतस्य महीपाल यथा मां नारदो<ब्रवीत्
lebhe garbha yathākālaṁ vidhidṛṣṭena karmaṇā | pārṣatasya mahīpāla yathā māṁ nārado 'bravīt |
到其时节,她依照法度所行之仪式而怀孕。大王啊,帕尔沙塔之子便是如此而来——正如那罗陀昔日告我一般。
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores the importance of acting according to prescribed dharma—especially in rites affecting lineage and social order—presenting rightful outcomes (like conception and succession) as linked to proper, rule-governed conduct.
Bhīṣma, addressing a king, recounts a lineage-related event: a woman conceives at the proper time through a duly prescribed rite, and he frames his account as received tradition—what the sage Nārada previously told him—thereby lending authority to the narrative.
