Protection of the Realm and Principles of Revenue & Local Administration
वह लोगोंसे कहे--'सज्जनो! अपने देशपर यह बहुत बड़ी आपत्ति आ पहुँची है। शत्रुदलके आक्रमणका महान् भय उपस्थित है। जैसे बाँसमें फलका लगना बाँसके विनाशका ही कारण होता है, उसी प्रकार मेरे शत्रु बहुत-से लुटेरोंको साथ लेकर अपने ही विनाशके लिये उठकर मेरे इस राष्ट्रको सताना चाहते हैं ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | asyām āpadi ghorāyāṃ samprāpte dāruṇe bhaye | paritrāṇāya bhavataḥ prārthayiṣye dhanāni vaḥ ||
毗湿摩说道：“如今可怖的灾厄已临到我们，骇人的恐惧也已升起。因此我向诸位请求财物——并非为我个人享乐，而是作为护佑你们众人的手段。在这样的危局中，为共同防卫而汇聚资财，乃合乎法（Dharma）的义务；因为百姓的安危与国土的存续，系于及时的同心援助。”
