Time-Reckoning, Yuga-Dharma, and the Sequence of Creation

The verse emphasizes limited personal agency: events and outcomes (like prosperity or poverty) arise in alternating cycles shaped by destiny/previous causes, so one should not cling to the ego of doership and should cultivate equanimity toward changing fortunes.
Śakra (Indra), speaking as Śatakratu, reflects on his present condition and explains that what is occurring through his body is not to be claimed as self-willed action; he frames his situation within the broader law that fortune and misfortune rotate among beings.
