Sārasvata–Dadhīca Upākhyāna at Sarasvatī Tīrtha

Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context

etad icchāmy ahaṃ śrotuṃ paraṃ kautūhalaṃ hi me |

Educational Q&A

The passage highlights the dharmic posture of inquiry: genuine desire to know should be joined with humility (vinīta-bhāva) and reverence toward the wise. Ethical learning is presented not as argument but as disciplined listening and respectful questioning.

The narrator frames a moment of heightened curiosity. Asita, not seeing the radiant sage Jaigīṣavya, respectfully approaches the Siddhas and holy men of those realms and asks them to reveal where Jaigīṣavya is and to speak about him, driven by strong longing to hear his account.
