गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel

杜尤陀那说道:“我将独自入林,披鹿皮而行。尊者啊,如今我已失却亲族与部众,我不再愿意执著于此生。”
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how attachment to life and power can collapse when one’s social world is destroyed; it also distinguishes genuine renunciation grounded in dharma from renunciation arising from despair and loss.
After catastrophic losses in the war, Duryodhana speaks of abandoning the royal path and going to the forest wearing ascetic deerskins, declaring that with his kinsmen gone he no longer wishes to preserve his life.
