Adhyāya 41 — Kṛṣṇa’s Battlefield Briefing and the Renewal of the Great Engagement
सर्वामिमां यः पृथिवीं विजिग्ये तेन प्रयोद्धास्मि समेत्य संख्ये | 'युद्धमें जिनके समान धनुर्धर मैं दूसरे किसी मनुष्यको नहीं मानता
sarvām imāṁ yaḥ pṛthivīṁ vijigye tena prayoddhāsmi sametya saṅkhye |
三阇耶说道:“我将于战阵中与那征服了整个大地之人相会而战——在弓术上,我认为他在人间无与伦比。今日在战场上,我必倾尽全力与他交锋。”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya ideal of confronting a worthy opponent directly: recognizing exceptional prowess in another and still choosing to meet them in open combat with full resolve. Ethically, it reflects the martial code of courage and honor within the epic’s war context.
Sañjaya reports a warrior’s declaration of intent: he will go forth to meet and fight the conqueror of the earth—an archer considered unmatched—on the battlefield that day, emphasizing determination and the gravity of the impending duel.
