Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Fainting and Questions Concerning Droṇa

Educational Q&A

Wrongdoing toward the undeserving does not remain isolated; it ripens into consequences (karma-phala). Dhṛtarāṣṭra interprets Droṇa’s violent end as a moral repercussion linked to sustained injustice and the silent complicity that allowed it to continue.

In the aftermath of events surrounding Droṇa’s fall, Dhṛtarāṣṭra speaks in self-reproach. He recalls how the Pāṇḍavas were repeatedly subjected to suffering despite being undeserving, and he connects that history of harm and endurance to the present catastrophe—Droṇa’s death in the war.
