with Arjuna’s approach to Bhīṣma

Educational Q&A

The passage highlights how courage and unity can decisively shape a battle’s outcome: victory is not only physical but also psychological, as fear can break an army’s confidence, while disciplined triumph (expressed as a siṃhanāda) strengthens one’s side.

Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍavas, accompanied by Ghaṭotkaca, raise loud victory-cries; the enemy, overwhelmed by fear and confusion, begins to flee, and the victors respond with further triumphant roars.
