भीष्मशिबिरगमनम् — Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal
रूपवान् बलसम्पन्नो गुणवान् सत्यविक्रम: । इन्द्रलोक॑ जगामाशु श्रुत्वा तत्रार्जुनं गतम्
sañjaya uvāca | rūpavān balasampanno guṇavān satyavikramaḥ | indralokaṃ jagāmāśu śrutvā tatrārjunaṃ gatam |
三阇耶说道:伊罗婆那容貌俊美,力气充沛,品德具足,勇武真实不虚。及其长成,听闻父亲阿周那已至因陀罗天界,便立刻启程,迅速抵达那天上之境。
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights admirable personal qualities—beauty, strength, virtue, and steadfast valor—and connects them with prompt, purposeful action motivated by rightful relationship and respect for one’s father, suggesting that excellence of character should express itself in timely, directed conduct.
Sanjaya describes Irāvān and says that when Irāvān heard Arjuna had gone to Indra’s celestial realm, he swiftly went there as well, marking a movement of characters into the divine sphere within the unfolding war narrative.
