Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal
sa nāgaloke saṁvṛddho mātrā ca parirakṣitaḥ | pitṛvyeṇa parityaktaḥ pārthadveṣād durātmanā ||

The verse highlights how personal hatred can corrupt familial responsibility: abandoning a dependent child out of enmity toward someone else is portrayed as the act of a durātmā (evil-minded person), contrasting protection (rakṣaṇa) with adharma-driven neglect.
Sañjaya explains that a certain child was raised safely in Nāgaloka under his mother’s care, but later a paternal uncle—motivated by hostility toward Arjuna—rejected and abandoned the child.
