niviṣṭān pāṇḍavāṃś caiva prīyamāṇān mahārathān | bhīṣmasya patane hṛṣṭān upagamya mahābalaḥ ||

The verse highlights the ethical tension in dharmayuddha: strategic success may bring joy, yet one must remain mindful of the moral weight of bringing down a revered elder like Bhīṣma. It points toward disciplined conduct after victory—acting at the proper time and with dharmic awareness rather than mere triumphalism.
After Bhīṣma has fallen, the Pāṇḍava mahārathas are seated and pleased. The mighty Kṛṣṇa approaches them at an appropriate moment, setting up the ensuing counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira and the next phase of action following Bhīṣma’s fall.
