अतीवासुखभोगी स सततं कुन्तिनन्दन: । न हि पश्यामि बीभत्सोर्निन्द्य गात्रेषु किंचन । श्रोतव्यं चेन्मयैतद् वै तन्मे व्याख्यातुमरहसि
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |
atīvāsukhabhogī sa satataṃ kuntīnandanaḥ |
na hi paśyāmi bībhatsor nindyaṃ gātreṣu kiṃcana |
śrotavyaṃ cen mayaitad vai tan me vyākhyātum arhasi |
尤提希提罗说道:“昆蒂之子阿周那似乎总在承受沉重的艰辛;然而在可畏的战士毗婆蹉(Bībhatsu)的肢体与仪容上,我看不出任何可责之处。若此事确为我应当听闻之事,请为我阐明:在并无明显过失的情况下,他为何仍要经历困苦?”
युधिष्ठिर उवाच
The verse frames a dharmic inquiry: suffering is not always explained by visible दोष (fault) in a person. Yudhiṣṭhira urges a deeper causal account—often implying karma, duty, or hidden conditions—rather than judging by outward appearance.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Arjuna (Kuntīnandana), noting that Arjuna appears blameless and even suited to happiness, yet seems to undergo hardship. He asks Arjuna to explain the reason for this apparent mismatch between virtue and suffering.
