Babhruvāhana and Dhanaṃjaya’s engagement at Maṇipūra
परिष्वज्य च तां प्रीतो विससर्ज गृहान् प्रति
vaiśampāyana uvāca | pariṣvajya ca tāṃ prīto visasarja gṛhān prati |
毗湿摩耶那说:阿周那心中欢悦,拥抱了她,随后送她回家。此情此景凸显了阿周那在战争浩劫之后的慈悲克制:他不以胜利自矜,也不以严酷相加,而是以安慰与敬重作结,含蓄地反诘那使无数生命陨落的武士之道。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even within a warrior’s world, dharma is not exhausted by victory or punishment; compassion, respectful conduct toward the grieving, and moral self-scrutiny after violence are presented as higher marks of righteousness.
After consoling the woman (contextually Duḥśalā) and showing kindness, Arjuna embraces her affectionately and then sends her back toward her home, bringing the encounter to a humane and reconciliatory close.
