Adhyāya 48: Brahmopadeśa on Prāṇāyāma, Sāttvika Vṛtti, and the Sattva–Kṣetrajña Question
gurur uvāca ity uktavantās te viprās tadā lokapitāmaham | punaḥ saṁśayam āpannāḥ papracchur munisattamāḥ ||

The verse highlights a dharmic method of learning: when doubt (saṁśaya) arises, even accomplished sages seek clarification from a higher authority rather than clinging to partial understanding. Ethical discernment is strengthened through humble questioning and careful inquiry.
After the teacher’s statement, the brāhmaṇa sages become uncertain again and approach Brahmā, the ‘Grandfather of the worlds,’ to ask further questions. The scene sets up a continuation of doctrinal explanation through dialogue.
